Washington County, incorporated in 1789, is the fifth largest county in Maine by total area and the thirteenth largest by population. The county is comprised of two cities (Calais and Eastport), thirty-nine towns, two plantations, two Indian reservations and two unorganized territories (consisting of 35 unorganized townships).
