EASTERN MAINE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION’S
PATHWAYS PROJECT PARTNERS WITH THE CITY OF BANGOR

BANGOR, Maine—Eastern Maine Development Corporation’s (EMDC) Pathways Project is partnering with the City of Bangor’s Neighborhood Stabilization Project to renovate and revitalize a number of homes in the city. When they’re finished, those homes will be available for purchase to qualified first time home buyers.

Pathways Project participants Richard Doucette and Fred Scott worked with city officials to complete items on the final ‘punch list’ for the home.

“The Pathways Project is training individuals for positions that are integral to what the City is doing with these homes. Working together is a win-win for the City of Bangor and for the people we’re training to join the workforce,” says Kitty Barbee, Project Manager for Pathways.  “We’re hopeful that making these connections grows the opportunities for employment in the region.”

The primary focus of the Pathways Project is to train individuals in green construction trades while providing new modular homes to replace pre-1976 mobile homes in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. Pathways currently has ten program partners including Eastern Maine Community College, United Technology Center and Maine State Housing.

Pathways aims to train 150 individuals and build at least seven new homes over a two year period.

The Neighborhood Stabilization Project completed final renovations on 27 Cumberland Street on Friday, May 27. Officials plan to list the home for sale next week.

For more information on Pathways and its projects contact Kitty Barbee at 207.942.6389 or kbarbee@emdc.org. Inquiries regarding the Neighborhood Stabilization Project should be directed to Rosie Bradley at the City of Bangor 207.942.4241 or rosie.bradley@bangormaine.gov
