Here in Eastern Maine, state and local governments work together to meet community economic goals. EMDC facilitates this collaboration by bringing together areas of expertise and focusing on our mission "to lead communities to a strong economic future." We recognize "Leading" doesn't mean doing it ourselves, so more importantly, we are able to bring together the right resources that help communities develop and prosper.
In the long run, business and communities need each other and only by working together can we create the quality of life we are seeking. EMDC assists communities to define their future, and plan and invest accordingly. We help communities create their vision and implement it. Over the years, we've worked with communities of all sizes in helping them build everything from community centers to industrial parks to ports.
Whether it's developing a comprehensive plan, revitalizing a downtown, or helping a community expand daycare facilities, we're a resource for creating a sound environment and healthy communities. Our experience in putting together and assisting communities to plan for solid waste, economic development and transportation gives us a strong bias toward regional solutions to problem solving. At the same time, we know that communities, just like businesses, have unique needs and solutions.
We work with community groups to expand their economic base and create new opportunities. Through proactive marketing efforts, local capacity building and infrastructure development, we help lay the foundation for business attraction and expansion opportunities.
Most importantly, we work with our communities and businesses one at a time. We take the time to understand their needs and desires, combine the appropriate public and private resources and follow through to project completion.
