A collaborative network advancing economic growth and opportunities.

Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) is a private, non-profit organization established in 1967. The Corporation is located in Bangor, Maine and serves the four Eastern Counties of Maine: Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis Counties as well as portions of Waldo County.

The business of the Corporation is managed by a 15 member Board of Directors. The Board consists of at least two members from each of the four counties, one member for each of the four Regional Planning Commissions, one Growth Center representative, two members-at-large, and a representative from the Native American community.

EMDC's service area covers almost 11,000 square miles with a population of 257,334 and is the largest economic development district in Maine. Our professional staff members are divided into three service areas - business, community and workforce.

Each day EMDC strives to connect business owners with the tools they need to succeed. Watch the story of Trenton's Oceanside Veterinary Hospital and learn how we do it.
