The forest product industry has a proud and resilient heritage in Maine. New technologies including cross laminated timber and increasing demands for tissue are diversifying the industry and generating investment.

This sector accounts for more than 38,000 total jobs, with The Maine International Trade Center estimating that we exported $551,475,446 in forest products last year. Paper Mills are investing in tissue machines to produce packaging and specialty papers and meet rising demands in these growing markets. Public and private partners are investing in new technologies and research to boost the forest economy and promote industry development.
