Job Seekers
A New Model for the Tri-County Area
By bringing the workforce services in-house, EMDC's new model will allow the Tri-County region to develop new and more responsive programs and services that address businesses, communities and workers' needs in a more comprehensive cost-effective manner. While the individual economic and workforce programs provide the following benefits to the Job Seeker and Businesses we believe these types of benefits will be enhanced and delivered more effectively through an integrated approach. A few examples of current services that will be enhanced include:
- Increase use of On-the-Job-Training (OJT), Apprenticeship and customized training opportunities to assist job seekers return to employment with expanding companies
- Developing a stronger network for dislocated workers i.e. when a large company lays off their workers our model will provide a rapid turn-around connecting the skilled workforce recently laid-off to companies needing similar skill sets.
- Resources for individuals interested in starting their own business from creating a business plan to getting a loan will be enhanced by integrating the Career Development services of the workforce program with the counseling services of the Small Business Development Center counselors.
- Connecting the skilled workforce to new start up businesses receiving loans from EMDC's Lending programs.
- Workshops and services specific to entrepreneurship facilitated by Small Business Counseling.
